I love those endorphins. I really do. Today, I hit the gym after nearly 2 months of being told to stay away. And post Diwali celebrations, it was showing that I needed to get back to Spartan ways of ‘no food only exercise.’. Not even a nice chocolate cake with ice cream on the side?...No!!!! Back to salads and high protein diets.
This work-out felt so awesome. Who knew bench-presses could be so fun. And running; …running feels so good. And since I was running after almost 2 months, I ran like the wind. (‘Chariots of Fire’ theme playing in my head). And the cycling…I was Lance Armstrong on steroids. (‘Chariots of Fire’ theme still playing in my head…..come to think of it…maybe he was on steroids….still waiting confirmation from the tests). And the weights felt so awesome. (ok…theme change…’Superman ‘ theme playing in my head).
I felt positively upbeat and in a good mood after quite some time. Endorphins running through my veins, making me happy. I am reminded of Reese Witherspoon in Legally Blonde, “Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy.”. (Of all the things in the world….he remembers Legally Blonde).
But seriously, there is no stress buster like exercise. It’s clean and gives you a kick like no other. I’ve at least discovered that it’s the best way to start your day. Your awake, upbeat, thinking better and working faster. Not to forget you look good too.
