The main event for which I had gone to Hong Kong happened at a hotel called The Mira. The Mira is located on Nathan Road, which I read is famous because it is one of the first roads in Asia to get neon lighting. While I really couldn’t spend too much time sampling the food being served at the event, I did manage to spend ten minutes grabbing a quick lunch with one hand and taking photographs with the other. So here are some of the better shots from the day.
While we were in China, they did have a very excellent spread of sushi consisting of a variety of seafood. I just took one of each. The unique part to this ensemble was the wasabi. The wasabi was actually dried out and kept, which made it look like frosting. One had to add hot water to it just before eating and presto, fresh wasabi sauce. And it was strong stuff.

My favourite part of the meal from the main course was the Roasted German Pork Knuckle with Mustard. I didn’t know it was pork until quite later because the meat was so soft and so fine. The mustard taste was just superb and had found its way into every pore of the meat. I must have had at least four rather large slices of the pork.

The Seared Fillet of Sole with Orange and Herb Butter Sauce was also very interesting predominantly thanks to the tangy flavour of the orange which quickly turned into the rich fattening taste of butter. The fish itself was cooked to just the manner. I also took a fancy to the Chicken Roulade filled with Sausage. But nothing beat the pork.

While the dessert was a good spread, I found the time to try only two of what was on the table. The first was the Milk Tea Panna Cotta. This was a really awesome tasting treat which came with the lovely refreshing taste of fresh tea, but also had the satisfying taste of panna cotta. The second dessert was the Coconut Creme Caramel which was basically our local kheer made into the form of a caramel custard. While the taste was nice, it was a distant second to the Milk Tea Panna Cotta.
